Ok, so I'm trying to be more active in the Xanga community and I'll have to start posting somehow... I don't have any participees on this blog so I guess I'll talk about me:
I am sixteen years of age, I have a huge and wierd need for realistic military combat (such as AirSoft, TacSim, MilSim and of course, video games). Either born of this need, or cause of this, it is my dream to join the United States Armed Forces.
I just have one problem.
What in the blazes would do in the military? The only thing I believe I could contribute to it is marksmanship and service. I'm not a mechanic, engineer, strategical mastermind or even a pilot.
I could imagine myself taking charge of a platoon or squad, and maybe even getting to the rank of Major after a few years of service and lots of combat pay. But it still doesn't feel right. I just wonder if there's anything more I could contribute to the military.
Ok, well, specifically I'm looking into either Force Recon in the Marines, Rangers in the Army, or maybe just infantry in either.
Jughead? ...or Doggy? I always thought I was a little stupid and brash: Oo-rah for the Corps. But the Army gives me the idea that I could branch out more than the Marine Corps could give me; on the other hand, the Marines offer more combat.
Someone once said that those who have never experienced war, want war.
Another said, I heard the bullets whiz and they sounded quite charming.
In short, I have no real skills. I want to join when I'm eighteen so I have only two years to find and master a skill that could benefit me. A friend of mine (he's in the Air Force) suggested I take two years of college first, so at least I'd be able to enlist with a higher rank.
That sounds great, if not for the fact that college really isn't whetting my appetite. I think I'm more afraid of failing in college than braving the gas chamber.
*shudders* ...at least, for now, college seems more intimidating than the gas chamber. I saw a YouTube vid of it. The men and women were choking, vomiting all over the place and snot was just rolling down their faces. However, to me, I'd rather do that than some stinkin' arithmetic test.
Anyway, I'm hoping and praying that any U.S. Armed Forces guys could comment on here and give me some advice.
Charlie Foxtrot out.
